About the Course

This course will provide an overview of the fundamental concepts in substance abuse. The contents of this course will help to introduce participants to terminologies used in substance abuse as well as their definitions. Participants will be provided with a comprehensive overview of the drugs of abuse that are most commonly used. Stages of substance dependence and recovery will also be covered as well as treatment guidelines.

It is essentially very important that career counsellors need a lot of expertise in the areas of personality, aptitude, abilities and careers available now and values of the targeted group. A knowledge of career counselling  models, theories and other fine details of career counselling and career guidance is essential for a starting as a career counsellor. This short course is one of its kind that offers theoretical and practical knowledge in career counselling.

About the Instructor(s)

The trainer, Shams Jhugroo, from Mauritius, has a Masters Degree in Child Psychology, and his research interest is ‘drug use among Adolescents’. He has experience with clients suffering from substance abuse and is actually working as a lecturer in the field of special education.

Course Format

Offline and online mode of training with voice assisted Powerpoint presentations and a manual provided at the start of the course. The participant will have a two weeks time to master one particular module of the course and he/she can contact the trainer either through email/ chat or video chat for any clarifications.

Each module will have its own activity and a pragmatic paper for better understanding.
